Ariane Property, Quebec, Canada

Overview  |  Geology & Exploration Recommendations

Overview

The Ariane Property is located in the Du Guesclin and Guercheville townships in the Abitibi region of western Quebec, approximately 45 km to the south-west of the town of Chapais. The project consists of 15 mining claims totalling 2,072 acres in size and should be directly accessible by logging road from provincial highway 113.

Research has identified several zones of potentially anomalous copper and gold mineralization on the Property. Two zones have been identified to host multiple targets containing copper mineralization and one zone is host to multiple targets containing gold mineralization. Two significant NNE-SW trending transverse faults cross-cut the property and are intersected by a significant approximately E-W trending shear zone. The property is host to four significant gold and base-metal showing all proximal to the aforementioned faults. In addition, to the north of the property, those same faults are host to four significant gold and base metal showings including the eastern limits of the Lac Fenton-Sud deposit. This property has only seen limited drill testing to date. the property has only seen limited drill testing, with limited results showing 4.16% Zn and 5.8g/t Au over 3.4m and 2.4g/t Au over 2.1m

Previous Work

Only limited historical work has been performed on the property. Some prospecting and ground geophysical work has been performed by various claim holders, but only 6 drill holes have been drilled to date on the current claim block.

Regional Geology

The property is located less than 2km to the south-east of the Lac-Fenton Sud deposits (402,000 tons @ 5.01g/t Au), proximal at the eastern margin of the Opawica Pluton, bounded to the north and south by the Caopatina-Desmarais volcano-sedimentary belt. The region is rather under-explored compared to other Abitibi volcano-sedimentary belts; only one deposit has been discovered to date. Nonetheless, excellent potential remains for further discovery given the high number of showings and sub-economic drill-hole intersections that have been recovered both in intrusive units of the opawica river complex and in the volcnics of the Caopatina-Desmarais volcanics.

Property Geology

The central portion of the property is host to the tonalites of the Opawica Pluton while the north and southern portions of the property are host to the basalts of the Caopatina-Desmarais volcano-sedimentary belt. Two significant NNE-SW trending transverse faults cross-cut the property and are intersected by a significant approximately E-W trending shear zone. The property is host to four significant gold and base-metal showings all proximal to the aforementioned faults. In addition, to the north of the property, those same faults are host to four significant gold and base metal showings including the eastern limits of the Lac Fenton-Sud deposit.

Potential Milling Sites

The property is located approximately 75km to the west of the Joe Mann mill and concentrator which can process gold ± copper ± zinc.

Exploration Recommendations

Maxtech has engaged Diagnos Inc. of Montreal to assist in the preparation of the exploration programs at this project. It has been recommended that further work should focus on the highlighting and testing of drill targets. As a significant amount of ground work has already been performed on the property, trenching will be an important step in order to extend known mineralized zones and locate new zones.

A work program is currently being designed.
